Are there house rules?

Are there house rules?

We all want to spend an awesome summer together. With so many different personality types, a few rules are necessary. Please read through our school rules carefully and sign them, together with your parents.

We will email you the rules with the booking confirmation. These include information about behavior, quiet hours and other important points about the stay for you and your parents.

What are the meal arrangements?

What are the meal arrangements?

Full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is included when you book a stay in the residential facility. This means you will receive three meals a day.

The first meal on the day of arrival is dinner, the last meal on the day of departure is breakfast.

Breakfast in Germany and Austria is typically cold (i.e., bread or roll, cereal, butter, egg, sausage or jam, juice, water or tea).

Lunch during the week consists of a warm buffet and a salad bar. On weekends you will receive a packed lunch. The packed lunch usually includes a sandwich, fruit, a sweet snack and a drink.

The third meal is dinner, which will also be served buffet style. Sometimes we grill out for dinner.

With advance warning we are able to accommodate allergies and special diets. A surcharge may be required.

With whom will I live?

With whom will I live?

Our summer course in Oberwesel is held in the Rheintal Jugendherberge. The facility has large grounds with lots of space for sports and an amazing view of the Rhine Valley. The dining room is on the main floor where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served to all the course participants. The classrooms are large enough for workshop-style instruction. The highlight is the indoor swimming pool and the large hall that can be used for movie nights and weekly parties.

You will generally be supervised by our team the entire time. It is possible you may be unsupervised for short periods, for example, between or during activities. During these times you will be exploring the area in groups of at least three participants (in accordance with our school rules). If you and your parents prefer more freedom, we recommend one of our courses with host family lodging. Of course, in the hotel itself you can move about freely. There will be a contact person available to you at all times.

You will be sharing your room with other international course participants from did deutsch-institut. We will try as often as possible not to house you with individuals of the same nationality or native tongue. We can't guarantee this, however. If you would like to share a room with a friend, please let us know when you register and be sure to book the same room category.

What else do I need to know?

What else do I need to know?

You and your parents will receive a copy of the school rules with the booking confirmation and invoice.

Shortly before your arrival you will receive our program handbook with further information about your stay and a checklist of what you should bring along.

Please bring €50 in cash with you when you come. If you do not cause any damage during your stay and return the key / keycard, the €50 will be refunded on the day of departure.

Your parents will be personally responsible to the lodging operator for any damages you cause. We recommend all participants be covered by renter's liability insurance. Your parents can purchase coverage here: Care Concept Care Protector. Should you accidentally cause any damage, the insurance may cover the costs in full or in part
