It is very important to be certain you are insured in case of emergency when traveling in a foreign country. If you are coming from a country requiring a visa, sufficient insurance coverage is a requirement in order to receive an entry visa into either Germany or Austria.
Along with our insurance partner, we are offering a special insurance package, which includes health, accident and liability coverage. This comparatively inexpensive insurance protection can be purchased by the week. Purchase of this insurance is optional (except for those participating in the High School Program).
This health insurance is ideal for college students, school children and exchange students who don't bring insurance coverage with them from their home country. In case of illness, the insurance covers all necessary interventions including treatment by doctors and dentists, hospital visits, medications and, if necessary, transportation costs to the nearest hospital (except deductibles).
In Germany and Austria you will receive a bill from the doctor or hospital for your treatment that must either be paid immediately in cash or settled with an electronic funds transfer. It is possible the bill may not be ready until after your departure, in which case you will receive it via email. Copies of billing documents can be forwarded to the health insurance company for reimbursement.
Liability insurance protects you against damage compensation claims from third parties. Should you, for example, accidently inflict damages upon another, liability insurance will cover you. Should you cause damage to a moveable object (i.e., furnishings in your residence), this insurance will cover you up to €1000 per incident. You are only responsible for the €125 deductible.
Accident insurance protects against, for example, the financial repercussions resulting from a reduction in your ability to work due to disability or death after an accident.
