After your language course is over, optimize your time in Germany by completing a internship in your area of interest. Attend a stimulating seminar and deepen your presentation skills. Book a special course in which you get to know 4 different cities. Here you can read all about our special programs for adult learners.
You apply for a position by submitting your completed application and language test to us. We review the job requirements and if you fulfill them, we ask that you then submit a resume and motivation letter.
After the application process is complete, we will search for a suitable position for you. This process can take a while. The more persuasive your application materials are, the faster a German firm will decide to hire you.
After your language course is complete, your internship will begin. You will certainly collect many new impressions and experiences. Each firm has its own corporate culture. Try to understand the culture and attempt to integrate yourself as much as possible into it so your internship will be a success.
The shortest German course is 6 weeks and depends largely on your language level. The internship typically lasts up to 3 months. Longer internships are only arranged if they are considered compulsory (i.e., required by the university).
After you have completed your German course, we will find you an unpaid internship position if you are between the ages of 18 - 26 and a citizen of one of the EU member nations.
For all other nationalities, completing an internship is possible, but with conditions. However, if you are enrolled in a university in your home country and the internship is related to your field of study, it will usually be allowed by the Central Office for Placement Services (ZAV). Please be aware of the applicable visa regulations for your country.
You can indicate which area of work you would prefer. Certainly, your placement will depend heavily on your qualifications. Placement in a qualified internship in fields such as architecture, accounting, design or tourism require very good German skills (completion of level B2). If you would like to work in the hotel or restaurant industry, completion of level B1 is generally sufficient. In that case, you might be placed in the service area, for example.
We will try to find a placement for you that matches both your experience and your interests. This is not always possible in every course location, however. In addition, we cannot guarantee you will find a position with a specific firm or in a very specific business sector. In these cases, we will suggest an alternative, perhaps an internship in a similar line of work.
All internships we offer are unpaid. Nonetheless, some firms may pay a small amount of pocket money. We cannot mediate paid internships for you. Minimum wage laws apply to internships that are not considered compulsory. In the case of volunteer internships, minimum wage laws only apply if the internship is longer than three months.
In Germany, it is standard to take part in an in-person job interview. The employer will contact you to arrange an appointment. You will leave a more positive impression if you respond to their request promptly, arrive at the interview on time, and are neatly dressed in the appropriate attire.
Work hours and vacation
In Germany, the normal work week is 40 hours. Your employer will explain the work hours to you either before your internship or when you first start. If you would like to take vacation during your internship, discuss this with your employer. Please abide by the agreed upon arrangements!
Should the internship be terminated early, we cannot refund any fees you have paid to us. Please let us know why you would like to end the internship early. During the internship, you should always treat your employer and fellow workers with respect.
After you have successfully completed your internship, your employer will provide you with a written certification of your work. The certification will describe the duties you performed while employed.
Health, accident and liability insurance
Some employers will require proof of insurance. If you do not have adequate insurance coverage, you can purchase it through our insurance partner.

During the summer of 2006, it was particularly easy to experience Germany and essentially get to know the whole country, because everyday, soccer games from 12 different cities were being televised. The game locations, which were extensively presented by the media, quickly developed a special allure of their own - even for our did students. Even those who were not particularly enamored with soccer came along on these weekend trips through Germany. Our team was fascinated by the idea of combining learning with travel. After all, our motto since 1970 has been: Learn German, discover Germany! After we had settled upon the particulars, we decided to offer the option of arranging your language learning stay not just in one, but in 2 - 4 course locations of your choice: in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich, with no additional charge!
Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich - 4 institutions, 4 large cities, 4 opportunities to discover Germany! If you would like to experience as much of Germany as possible during your language learning stay here, you should consider our special 4X offer and divide your language course over up to four different course locations! Our new offer makes it possible to flexibly combine course type, duration and location.
All did deutsch instituts follow a uniform pedagogical curriculum which makes it possible to transition seamlessly between different course locations. The minimum required course length per school is two weeks. After 2 weeks, a move is possible at any time. All you need to pay are transportation costs from one location to the next (no additional costs for new registration, etc.)
